ERTL'S; THE SECOND HOTTEST EXPERIENCE OUR EQUIPMENT HAS EVER HAD

Ertl's Image

During the summer of 1989, Ron and Pat were reunited much to Scott's chagrin, and a whole new era of inside jokes began, like naming every song they wrote after one of the 50 states, and screaming throughout every song as a tribute to John Goodman's performance in Raising Arizona. For 3 months, they practiced songs like "Iowa", "Saucy Montana", "Alaska", and so-forth in the blazing hot tin storage garage called "Ertl's". "Ertl's" was so hot their equipment would overheat continuously, so they could only practice for about 20 minutes at a time. The sound reverberating off of the 10' by 20' tin box was a sonic hell, and the individual members could rarely discern what anyone was actually playing. They called themselves Lawrence's stealth band because they refused to play any shows so that they could fine tune their "sound". Instead, they fine-tuned John's ass out of the band.
